American Cherry
American Cherry Wood
Grain Type: Fine textured grain, straight grained with very small pores
Color: Pink and yellow color when first cut, very pale, becomes a darker red-brown over time when exposed to sunlight
Advantages: Strong yet durable, easily shaped for custom designs including medallions or compass roses on floors, finishes very well, resistant to rot and decay despite being a softer wood, colors will continue to become richer over time rather than fading
Disadvantages: The darkening color of cherry can lead to a different final appearance, this potential for changing color should be taken into account when planning on accents, paint, and other decorative touches, staining can also be difficult on cherry due do its changing colors and patterns
